Dictionary skills

If you do not know what a word means, what can you do? If you need to find the meaning of a word, you can use a dictionary! To use a dictionary, you must know how ABC order works.

Words in the dictionary are arranged in ABC order! All of the “a” words are first, and then the “b” words, next the “c” words…..Get it!

Guide words are words at the top of a dictionary page that tell you what the first and last word on that page are. The words on the page will be between the guide words in ABC order. Guide words are there to help you find the word you are looking for faster!
