Sequencing means to put something in order.  We use words such as first, next, and last to help us when we are putting things in order. We can also use numbers (1, 2, 3) to sequence things. Sequencing refers to arranging items or events in a particular order.

Mrs. Jansen stood at the head of the line and gave her students their directions before boarding the bus. It was the first part of the class field trip. At precisely 8:00 a.m. they would all be on board so they could go to the museum at the state capital.
The schedule said they would arrive at 9:30 a.m. and divide into three equal groups for different tours. At lunch time they would take a break to eat and look in the gift shop. The remaining hour would be spent going back to look at exhibits individually. At 2:00 p.m. the bus would leave to go back to the school.

The Red Mulberry species of tree grows purple fruit that birds and some people enjoy. However, the berries are not the only useful part of this tree.
Choctaw Indians knew how to make cloaks from the bark of the Red Mulberry tree. The stringy bark would be dried first. Then they would beat it and bleach it. Finally, they would spin and weave the strong fibers. After all that hard work, they could finish making a cloak. Who would have thought there could be clothing made from tree bark?
